Name: Articuno
Age: Articuno is millenia old, having existed ever since the first ice was formed.
Gender: While he is technically genderless, he behaves like a male.
Species: Articuno
Side: Native
Appearance: Articuno appears as a great bird with blue plumage of varying color, being lightest around the chest and darkest around the crest and tail. His head crest is three dark blue rhombus-shaped feathers on its coming out of his forehead. He has a long streamer-like tail and a small light grey beak, and legs the same color. His wings are his most magnificent feature, a translucent blue, his wings are said to be made of ice, and they freeze the moisture in the air as he flies, causing the formation of snow and blizzards as he soars through the sky with his long tail trailing behind.
Personality: The personification of ice, Articuno's personality is harsh and ruthless, as cold and abrasive as the element he represents. A loner by nature, Articuno secludes himself in a self-imposed isolation deep within the mountains of Licentia, rarely emerging unless he senses an intruder in his territory. Any pokemon who dare venture into his icy domain place their fate in his talons, as Articuno is fiercely territorial. While if he is in one of his rare good moods he may choose spare their lives, more often than not his bitter and ferocious side gets the best of him, and he unleashes all the terror of winter upon them, relentlessly tormenting his foe with frigid winds, stinging hailstones and subzero temperatures until they either leave his territory or freeze to death.
The only pokemon whom he tolerates are ice types or pokemon who have proven themselves worthy in his eyes. To these he shows a slightly more gentle side, more like the quiet fall of snow rather than the furious howl of the blizzard. Even so these few pokemon must keep their guard around him, as Articuno is easily provoked and prone to changing moods swiftly and suddenly. Articuno has a powerful hatred of fire in all it's forms, and starting a fire or bringing something burning onto his mountain is strictly forbidden, and displayed outside Articuno's cave are pokemon who broke this sacred rule, their bodies eternally frozen for their crime.
History: Articuno was born millenia ago from an egg formed out of the very first water droplet ever to freeze into ice. Upon his birth he fought a great battle with his kin, the legendary birds Zapdos and Moltres, before the battle was ended by the pokemon Lugia, the great master of the legendary birds. Ever since he has haunted the cold and icy places of the world, charged with the task occasionally appearing to dying humans and pokemon lost in icy mountain paths to lead them to safety. However over time Articuno's heart began to harden, the actions of selfish humans slowly turning his heart black with bitterness and rage as they began tearing down the planet for their own selfish gain.
The number of isolated places where he could roam freely rapidly being eaten up by human civilization, Articuno fled to Licentia Island long before there was a civilization there, freezing himself inside an ice cave to sleep. Having been recently awakened by the increasing amount of pokemon activity on Licentia, Articuno now watches over his secluded area of mountain territory, occasionally coming into conflict with anyone who trespasses on his territory.
